February, 2010 • Southwest Florida Parent & Child magazine created the ultimate Birthday Party Guide. Professor Patches was asked for his advice on several key points.
“
Keith Raygor (aka Professor Patches) says his funny clown-like character is well received by partygoers. “He still acts and looks like a normal person” says Raygor, explaining he purposely created the character devoid of extreme makeup for wider appeal, “so it’s not scary for kids.”
And Raygor knows how to keep a captive audience as well. “The first couple tricks I do are very quick and very visual so I grasp their attention immediately.” He changes his show based on the age group present to keep everyone interested.
As always, ask around for recommendations when choosing your entertainment. And feel free to ask someone you’re considering for references. Most entertainer are happy to oblige.
Our experts have a few extra suggestions from their extensive experience that will help your party run smooth and keep it hassle-free.
Keith Raygor recommends putting up balloons on your mailbox. It might sound trivial at first, but may of your guests may be first-time visitors and the visual clue will keep your guests arriving at your door and your party on schedule.
Raygor has also noted planning your party with a set schedule helps to keep things moving along. Make sure your entertainment begins at least half an hour after the party starts to allow for a few late stragglers, and hold the cake and ice cream until last.
